foggy lens

by Jessi Purviance

the rain is falling gently this cold November's eve.
making soft sounds as it washes away the dreariness of the fog,
swept up into the bleary skies.

the skies are growing darker as night approaches
smothering the world in deep blues and blacks.

hiding the tree covered ridges and low, empty valleys.

a light appears at a window.
a brave sojourner against all that is night.
